Houston Aeros!!

On Friday our sports & entertainment marketing class were in Downtown Houston to job shadow with the Houston Aeros. It was a really fun & interesting experience. When we arrived we were a little early so we went to starbucks & hung out there for a while. Then around ten thirty we went back upstairs with the people of the Houston Aeros & met most of the staff & talked with them.Gabriel, who is in charge of the game operations, talked to us about how his job is & how he got that spot. What i learned from him is if you really want something focus on it & put your mind to it & like he said "work really hard for it." When we had our "free time" :) we went down to the food court & got something to eat. After we were done with our lunch Danielle, Clarence, & I stayed together & we had fun the whole time & were just acting a fool between us three:). We walked around the mall about four times & went into some stores & looked around at the things they had. After like the fourth time around the mall we decided to go a different way & went to a different lobby looking place, took the escalator downstairs & the spinning door outside:D When we came back inside to the building I came up with the idea of playing hide & go-seek:) Danielle & I kinda figured after a while that it wouldnt work but Clarance had left already & texted us to go too, so we went. When we saw him we kinda power walked lol & went inside of Starbucks! Clarance walked right by the store & didnt even see us we saw him walking straight & clueless, we just started laughing. Once we got back with the group he was the only one missing so we had to go look for him. When we were all together we left & went to a "park" we sat for a while but then we decided to play freeze tag. It was really fun the whole class played, ran, & in the end we were exhausted & some even hot! Once we were inside of the Toyota Center we were with Pam Sneider & she gave us a tour of the Toyota Center & walked us around where they work & where the press is. We also got a chance to be close to the ice & watch the players warm-up. Once the game started we got to our seats & watched:) it was really fun & cool I had never attended a hockey game before. This field trip was something i would of never thought i'd get a chance in doing. Im really glad i was able to go. I had so much fun that i like laughed the whole day.

ROCK ON!

This band project was a fun experience and it taught me alot of new things about marketing. Having a band and creating all of the necessary things to make it succesful as pretty hard. We had to make a tour schedule, create our own tour bus, back stage passes, logo, get a sponsor and have a tour map with 20 stops and venue names an seating information. Also we had to make-up a biography and a collage. Making the collage was really fun because i got to format the pictures and stuff on there and my team members agreed :) This project help me learn about the 7 key functions because we worked on money wise for the bands tickets, how to make our tour work out and be at venues, we had to get a sponsor for our band and have opening act to help introduce us, we had to be consistent with our dates and keep an organized schedule. We had a jazz band and although jazz bands are usually for the elderly ours was unique we tried to get evryones attention. Our music was calm, soothing, and enjoyable for evreryone:) We choose that because the name we thought of (blUE fUSiON) was more of a calmer "title" so it really didnt go with hip-hop and it was unique:) like us!

blUE fUSiON

In our Sports & Entertainment Marketing class we are working on a band project. We are suppossed to make up a band logo, a band name, a tour name, and have sponsors. The project also includes a biography of the band/group. My group is working on a jazz band our name is ''blUE fUSiON'' and we are a jazz band. This is something new it seems kind of complicated because you have to put everything together and make everything up but thats kinda that easy part because you get to write what you wnat and choose what you want to have. I think this is going to turn out good and we are all going to like it.

Key Functions OF Marketing

In our class we have talked about the key marketing functions. So far we have talked about four of them which are: Distribution, Product Service Management (planning), Selling, and Marketing Information Management. Distribution is how you will get your product to the place it will be sold. Product Service Management is your plan on how to get your product to your buyers. Selling is how you will sell your product, and Marketing Information Management is your product information on a data table or graphs. For that you need research on your buyers so it can be a successful sell and people like it. What I liked about this is that we got to do different types of activities and the work we have done was pretty easy. Everything we have done like researches and games played was to help us get a better understanding of the key functions.

Hurricane Ike

My exeperience during Hurricane Ike was different. Ususally for hurricanes we have left out of town, but this year we stayed. This has ben the longest time I have ben without electricity. The worst thing about it was that the power went out Friday evening, everyone lost power midnight or days later but ours went out around five or six!! Ugh.! During the storm it was pretty bad the winds were really loud and my mom says it sounded like little kids crying. In my neighborhood there were lots of fallen trees. It was like everything had gone green. There were leaves everywhere and knocked down trees. Our tree fell too, but it fell on top of our neighbors truck. After the storm it was hot and really boring!!!! There was nothing to do and nowhere to go. I was able to entertain myself with my ipod for like two days but it died:( When most of the streets were cleared my sister and i would go out and walk around and when little stores got power backwe would go out and buy chips and candy. When the mall opened we went and steyed there for like four hours. We didnt buy much but it was way better than being at home bored in the HOT! We are kinda lucky though cuz we have a generator that my dad turns on at night to hook up fans or the window a/c and so at night is not as hot as during the day.

Interview Questions

I am a senior at Spring Woods High School. I like to listen to music a lot so I always carry my ipod with me:). I like to listen to mostly all types of music except rock. I real dont have a favorite type of food but I like to eat a lot of mexican foods. I also like chinese and some sea food. I love eating chips!! My favorite type of chips are Hot Cheetos:DI like pretty much all of my classes in school except for math, I'm not really a math person. I guess you could say im good in English because I like to write (depending on the topic). I really don't study much for tests, and if I do it would be my review sheets or read over the chapter the test is about. I really don't know what I would like to learn in this class but I am looking forward into learning new things. I think that in this class we should divide the work among each other whoever knows best about a specific part should do what they know and that way everyone knows what they have to do and you dont have the whole group working on one thing. I would make a good team member because I work hard and will help my team complete the work that needs to be done.
